Diana's first full length collection of poems, published by The Diamond Press, London, 1990.
Reviews/endorsements: 'To convey deep feeling in language that amplifies that feeling on every reading is to go beyond language towards a deeper communication than words can ever convey. The intonation and expression of the poet comes with each stanza, to the extent that the reader absorbs the words as his/her own, that is the gift of the poet. Diana has that gift.' Kindred Spirit Magazine, UK
'A lot of energy in this work, waves of it becoming words, shaping these vulnerable and exuberant poems.' - Poetry Listings, London
MOUNTAINS
to Martin Exeter
As the mist of emotional hangover cleared away
it was good to look up,
and come again to the feet of the mountain,
great noble paws of the lion.
You offered a steely challenge
to all private quests, something
as definite as unseen mountains,
strange in its newness,
yet old as the hills and familiar
as all the green myths which grow
and die in the hearts of men.
Beginning to know your spirit
is to express the same, to climb higher
and see, as the view expands,
that there is nowhere else to go
except onwards and upwards
towards the peak which is nowhere
the point where I am, now here.
